5 simple things I Miss about Ireland

Hey Blog Readers!
Hope everyone has had a fantastic week so far!x!

SO this is the longest I've ever been a way from home... and don't get me wrong I LOVE it so much here and I'm having a blast! however..naturally I'm going to miss home comforts and things from and about home. Obviously I'm missing friends and family but there are lots of little, simple, things that I would usually take for granted. I thought I'd do a really quick blog post on those little things... :)
1) Barry's Tea!! and the chat that goes with it...

Yes it's safe to say I am a 'teaholic'.. and being in America is like being in Rehab for Tea addiction! It's just not the done thing... yes you can get green tea and lots of other forms of tea but good old English tea is very difficult to come across and so is a kettle by the way!lol! Los Angeles is definitely the land of coffee drinkers and they don't use kettles at all (only coffee machines)... I don't think they know what a kettle is??? :/ ..Actually I'm nearly sure of it at this stage which is a scary thought in itself! lol >:(
I have been craving tea so much so I finally brought a packet of not great looking tea bags in Ralphs the other day... I was delighted! and prayed it would taste the same... it didn't! and using the coffee machine to boil the water (recommended at reception) meant it had a slight tint of coffee in it... not cool!!

It's not just the tea I like but the process of drinking tea, relaxing and having a chat with another tea drinker... it's almost a form of therapy for me... maybe I'm like a smoker is with a cigarette.... :p

2) My Pets!!
I knew this would be a toughy but I am SERIOUSLY missing my pets at the same level and degree that I'm missing my family!
Let me introduce you to my pets...
Snoop Dogg... or Snoop for short:

Snoop is my miniature Jack Russell and the love of my life-my little baby! and yes he is sucking on a Babies Dummie... He is such a character! On numerous occasions when we have gone on walkies he finds a lost do-do, puts it in his mouth and carries it around: It's the cutest thing!
He is SUCH  a character! and I know his personality so well! he's like a little old man and he is definitely set in his ways.. he's the most well behaved dog I have ever come across.. and maybe that's because he was practically brought up by cats lol...
He likes soft furnishings and won't put his bum on a cold ground which means no sitting (especially on tiles) unless he has pulled something from somewhere to sit on (No joke!). He loves walks but only if the weather is to his liking... if it's raining he won't want to go and he'll let you know!
His eating habits are extremely bizarre for a dog... he likes to have human meat cooked for him (which my mum spoils him with) and if you give him hard dog food he will take one pebble, walk off with it and take his time chewing it.. not normal for a dog! he also likes to have someone escort him to his bowl to eat and will leave when you do.
He loves being a part of the family and hanging out together but when he's tired he'll casually take himself up to bed and give in for the night!
His best friend is our cat called smudge!
He is such a character and that is why I love him! and I can't WAIT to see him and give him a big cuddle! It's safe to say I'll be spoiling him.. and I've already seen some "I love Hollywood" doggie jackets I have my eye on! :)
Kushka

Possibly the oldest cat in Ireland...I have had Kushka since I was 4 years old! She is most definitely a core member in my small family! She has been a witness through everything-From my first day of school to me leaving for America and all the craziness in between!
Kushka is also a creature of habit and most of the time you can find her curled up in a fluff ball somewhere.. the top of the couch being her favourite place.. Probably because its the highest point she can get to to be superior above little ol'snoop ;)
I swear she can talk... this first became apparent when I was a child and I heard her meowing at the door "Shariiii let me innnn, let me innnn" and now it's just a given fact in our house that yes Kushka does talk! lol
If your ever feeling down Kushka seems to have a way of sensing it and she'll come over and sit on your lap to show you some love... she the most beautiful cat I have ever seen and I love her so much!x
Smudge! or Kitty! (her name is smudge but we call her kitty)

Smudge is the newest member of my pets and we have her about two years now... We hadn't planned on getting any more animals but she somehow showed up in our back garden as a tiny, scraggly little kitten... It was lashing rain and I could hear her crying... there was no way I could leave her out there but she was a wild cat and was afraid of me.. I spent awhile out there and eventually she realised I wasn't scary and came over to me.. my mum was a bit mad at me for bringing her in and we did try to home her but it's not easy to find a home for cats.. we gave her to the vets at one stage but my heart broke and I had to go and get her back!
She has become really domesticated and she is a lovely clean cat (although a way from her mother at a young age I think she learned through Kushka). She pretends not to like Kushka but if you go down early enough in the morning you can catch the two of them sleeping in the same basket..
Her best friend is Snoop and they always play together! she's a very loving cat and I'm glad I got to keep her!
Finally...
POCAHONTAS!

Pocahontas is my lovely little pony and I got her for my 8th birthday.. (a bit of a bribe when we moved to the country side). She is amazing! She is so loving and such a sweet pony-she also has a huge personality and you can tell what mood she is in just by looking at her! Some people say they don't like Piebalds.. but I think that's ignorant at it's highest form.. she is BEAUTIFUL and looks like a red Indian pony.. hence the name!
When I was younger I used to do a lot of horse riding... from pony club to shows and cross country.. she was a fab jumper but she got injured at an event and has never fully recovered... legs are a very precious thing on a pony! I feel the most sad that I haven't seen her in so long because I know that snoop and the cats are getting lots of love and attention from my mum and sister but Poky is stabled and I just hope they are spoiling her! I hear she's doing great and little kids are riding her so that makes me happy :) Pocahontas has been with me most of my life and she is so precious to me!x!
3) The 4th thing I miss is BUTTER!
download (3)

I mean I know L.A is a health concious town but seriously.. butter wouldn't go a miss! The amount of times I have asked for some butter on my e.g. sandwhich and everyone just stares at me blankly... Yup I know it makes you fat but I need me some butter!! ;) haha
4) Sarcasm
auto-sponge-bob-teacher-sarcasm-198596
The sense of humour is definitely a lot different over here.. people are so sweet and nice, which is great, but they definitely don't understand sarcasm... AT ALL!
For example I was joking that I'd get an American drunk in Vegas and make them marry me so I could have a green card... First I got a funny look but then they started explaining ways to help me trick the authorities into believing it was a real marriage.. ok that's all great but it was clearly a joke-I would never really do that, ha, but even after I had to explain that I was joking they still thought I was serious... The lack of sarcasm in every sense of the word can get a bit much! I love American's but there is definitely a culture barrier in terms of simply having "the craic". lol :)
5) Deodorant
download (4)

I thought America was meant to be ahead of us on so many things... but the deodorant is seriously old-school... all you can find is huge 90 style stick deodorant or if you do find a spray it's like a big old-school air-freshener... not cool! I don't know what the story is with it! >:( :/
6) I was meant to stop at 5 but I'm on a roll... good public transport or my own car! Everyone drives in Los Angeles and it is really difficult to get around on public transport... I can't judge the whole of America on their transport system but if L.A was compared to Europe.. Europe would win hands down! I did try to rent a car but it's super scary driving on the other side and on huge freeways so I didn't stick it!
That's it... because I know I talk about Los Angeles SO much and I'm likely to continue blabbing on about how cool it is when I'm home I thought I'd give you the low down on some of the things I do miss from home! and of course that's not including the obvious family, my bed, my wardrobe etc... etc... :)
HAPPY Weekend!!
I'm off for a video and photoshoot at the beach now :) #Excited
Lots of LOVE,
