My Depop

Please Note: Unfortunately this post was one of the blogs (pre.28th of July 2014) that suffered a 'Blogger' crash.. which saw all images vanishing! I have tried to replace the images from the crash as best as I can. However images of me with products etc.. may be lost as a result and therefore the images you see may not match the text(which is original and was not effected by the crash). My blog has therefore had to start fresh and all blogs starting from July 29th 2014 are correct with the appropriate, original and correct images but unfortunately the same can not be said for images lost in posts before this date. Apologies for any inconvenience caused. Hey Blog Readers

I've downloaded and joined the 'Depop' app! If you haven't heard of Depop it is basically a fun new way to buy and sell items from a smartphone. Free to download from the App Store, Depop is a fast, simple and social way to discover new and interesting items for sale.

As a lot of you will know already I am planning a move and it's not a regular move as I am planning to move abroad.. sooo as much as I would love to be able to bring everything with me it's just not possible! Therefore I am starting to go through my stuff bit by bit and I thought Depop would be the best way to sell off a couple of things that I have. Not everything on my account I necessarily want to get rid of therefore I am not interested in swaps: as the idea is to possibly make more room in my suitcase not less! :)
Feel free to message me with any offers :)

My username on depop is @sbarry follow me :)

I already sold my first item which was a faux fur jacket which I posted to the buyer the next day - I Hope she liked it!x! and will be kept nice and warm during the winter months!

Postage and package varies depending on the weight of the item and the distance of postage. In general I am a size UK 6-8 with most of the clothing on my Depop being a size8 however there are some items which are bigger/smaller but they all fit me.. below is are some pictures of me so you can have an image of sizing.

HAPPY browsing and selling :)

Lots of Love,

Shahira Xo

7 tips for surviving the modelling industry

Please Note: Unfortunately this post was one of the blogs (pre.28th of July 2014) that suffered a 'Blogger' crash.. which saw all images vanishing! Hey Blog Readers

So for today's post I decided to think of my top tips for surviving the modelling industry and I managed to come up with 7!

1) Rejection is a part of the modelling life-so get used to it! you won't be everyone's cup of tea but you'll be someones! always remember that beauty is very much in the eye of the beholder!

2) A successful model will ultimately gain a following and this makes life a whole other ball game: You get so much support and encouragement but there is a minority of people who think you are free bate there to be criticized... and this is just because you made the decision to put yourself out there by modelling. Hey-If you thought just being a girl was difficult in terms of bitchiness then get ready for the bitchiness of the modelling world! Both online, in person or even in press, You're likely to get some negativity, and at the beginning it can hurt but you just learn to get used to it. Always remember the good and forget the bad. Ever noticed how as humans 10 people could say something nice to us and yet 1 person says something bad and that's what plays on your mind??... learn to not even acknowledge the bad, after all you don't know the true motive behind it in the first place, so solely focus on the positive because somehow it manifests itself :) There is always so much more positive than negative and so many more nice people than mean ones so focus on those!

This brings me to number 3!

3) Develop a Tough-As-Nails Persona
This industry chews and spits out countless hopefuls. It’s hard to make a successful career without serious hard work and perseverance. You have to be so tough—you’ll make seemingly irreversible mistakes, be yelled at, gossiped about and inevitably a little broken down. You’ve got to be immune to all the drama and keep a smile on your face. As founder of People’s Revolution PR, Kelly Cutrone would say, “If you have to cry, go outside”.

4) Don't become obsessed with your looks- because the chances are if you started doing well with modelling to begin with then you had what it takes from the beginning! People think that people who model must have very high self-esteem but that is not the truth. Perhaps at the beginning, when you first start modelling, you may have a boost in confidence but as time goes on you get more critical about every little thing - especially when you are a part of this plastic world that we live in. People have fake hair, fake boobs, fake teeth, fake asses, fake tan, fake everything. It can be hard to stay natural in a world full of falseness sometimes and its easy to get sucked in but anything you do - do it for you.. for e.g. because xx got hair extensions does not mean your hair is not good enough without extensions.. Hold on to your uniqueness! again be the best version of you and by all means if you want to wear hair extensions, get a boob job.. whatever it may be then go for it but for the right reasons - not because you are following a trend or staring at yourself looking for faults.
Beauty comes in many different shapes and forms so why would we want to mould ourselves to all look the same???

this brings me on nicely to number 5! I think it's the most important..

5) DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT compare yourself to other models (or other people in general)- You are asking for self-esteem issues if you do this! Just be the best version of You that You can be! You will never be someone else and they will never be you so only ever compete against yourself and forget what someone else is doing just do what you can do :)

6) Be Confident but not conceited: Modelling, and actually life in general, has a lot to do with confidence - Hey fake it till you make it honey! After all nobody is going to take you seriously if you don't believe in yourself but don't go over board and start thinking your the shit and the most important person in the room- that attitude won't get you anywhere in life.

7) Develop a wide skill-set!
Education and hobbies are key - they make you not only well rounded as a model (e.g. if a photoshoot is on a horse and you can horse ride-you're more likely to be booked) but they also develop a well rounded human being! If you think the modelling industry is lucrative then think again! it can be for a period of time, if your lucky, but it won't always be that way - it's unreliable so have lots of back-up plans and skills in place.

I hope you found these helpful in one way or another :) If you'd like more blogs like this than remember to request them :)

Diary - Laser Hair Removal appointment 3 & 4

Hey Blog Readers!

I just thought I'd do a quick update blog post on how my laser hair removal (underarms, bikini and sideburns) is progressing!

To read my previous blog posts on laser hair removal than just click here for consultation and session 1 or here for session 2

Appointment 3

So the other week I had my third appointment with Irene at the Galway Laser and Skincare Clinic and I feel that it is only now that I am beginning to see the pattern and realize how laser hair removal actually works.. Basically last week although being my third appointment (not including consultation) was only my 2nd session of laser hair removal because the previous one was just a check-up and review on how the real session had gone!
Although it had worked extremely well for my first session it takes roughly 6 full laser hair removal sessions (not just check-ups or review appointments) to get rid of the hair for good. So to date I have only had two out of six full laser hair removal sessions (I need another 4)... The reason for this is because the hairs grow in phases and once one set of hair has fallen out some time is needed to allow the next growth phase to produce more hair and then the laser treatment is repeated (in total x6). So while I thought I was now on session three I was really only on session 2 as appointment number 2 was a review appointment (I hope I'm making sense! lol).
I now have another appointment later today which will be my 4th appointment with the clinic however it is a review appointment so I will have to wait until my next appointment, after today, to have my third full session of laser hair removal which will be session 3 of 6!

I hope you've managed to keep up with me so far...

SO How did I find my 2nd session of laser hair removal??

Session two of full laser hair removal on my bikini, underarms and sideburns was totally fine! It wasn't as painful as session one and I don't think it took as long time wise. This is because the effects of session one were already paying off and the hair wasn't as dense or clustered, making the process less painful. I believe that, hopefully, session three of full laser hair removal will be easier once again!
As always the staff at the clinic were friendly and helpful and it wasn't too awkward getting the likes of the bikini area done as Irene is so professional and experienced.
Laser hair removal isn't a pleasant experience, it is a little uncomfortable, but it's not unbearable and as long as you keep the results in mind you'll realise it's well worth it! :) I am already enjoying the benefits of not shaving!

For those of you that don't know I recently started using YouTube as a means to blog through video tutorials etc.. and I am already noticing the difference in my sideburns on camera - which is great! :)

Look at how improved they are in this latest video...

Compared to how they were in an earlier video (before starting laser hair removal)... skip to 3.23 for a close up..

I see a huge improvement which in return has given me more confidence on camera :)

By the way!...if you have a YouTube account remember to subscribe to my channel to be updated on my video posts!
Click here to visit my channel!

Later today I am back in the Galway laser and Skin Care Clinic for my review appointment following my second session of Laser hair removal! The hairs have started to grown back a little but they are loose so I expect the appointment to go well and to be in and out within half an hour (as I was for my previous 'review' appointment)
I'm already looking forward to my third session of laser hair removal which will probably be scheduled for a couple of weeks time and will mark me being half way through the full process!! :) eeekk I'm ready to be hair free and carefree! lol :)

For a full review on laser hair removal at the Galway Laser and Skincare Clinic and a step by step run down with questions and answers check out my original blog post by clicking here! (It has a lot more information)

Also remember to stop by my blog regularly to keep up to date on how it's all going!

In the mean time you can check out the Galway Laser and Skincare Clinic's website by clicking here or facebook by clicking here! or of course you can contact the clinic directly ph: 091762484 email: info@galwaylaserskincareclinic.ie to book a consultation!

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Lots of Love,
Shahira X
