Behind The Scenes Photos and the Low down :)

Please Note: Unfortunately this post was one of the blogs (pre.28th of July 2014) that suffered a 'Blogger' crash.. which saw all images vanishing! I have tried to replace the images from the crash as best as I can. However images of me with products etc.. may be lost as a result and therefore the images you see may not match the text(which is original and was not effected by the crash). My blog has therefore had to start fresh and all blogs starting from July 29th 2014 are correct with the appropriate, original and correct images but unfortunately the same can not be said for images lost in posts before this date. Apologies for any inconvenience caused. Hey Blog Readers!x

So it's no surprise to everyone that I do a lot of lingerie/swimwear shoots... The reason for that is because I'm 5'6 and not the required 5'8 for high fashion modelling.. I keep in shape & I'm curvy- I have boobs and a butt..so really almost since the beginning I've been placed in the 'glamour' box by some people... Personally I see glamour modelling as page three and topless modelling, and while I don't see anything at all wrong with that, I myself have never to date done any full frontal topless shoots so I definitely wouldn't call myself a 'glamour model'.. In fact I prefer not to categories myself in any aspect of my life - I'm just me!..
However, it really doesn't bother me what others see me as-I like to model full stop - be it swimsuit, lingerie, fashion or anything else I simply love modelling and that's why I do it! :)
Anyhow, I'm working on a couple of different things at the moment.., lets just say I've a few things in the pipeline ;) and therefore I'm trying to make myself as versatile as possible! I'm putting in the work to get a wide range of new images with different forms of styling etc.. so I can show my work in many different lights!

Last week I worked with my go-to and fav photographer: Sean Mc Cormack. I love working with Sean.. I've been working with him for years now (if you follow my blog or indeed any of my social media sites - Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.. you'll know that already) and he's become a good friend of mine so I feel we work very well together, we communicate well, and our images get better and better! :)

I get so many mails on facebook from stylists, mua's (makeup artists), photographers and hairdressers but I find it difficult to keep up with facebook - it's a sea of names and once the message is gone down the list it's hard for me to troll through to find it again and I forget (FYI: best way of contact is email info@shahirabarry.com) but Stylist Aidan Judge had written to me a couple of times in the past and because he had worked with Sean before he stuck in my head so I asked him would he be interested in joining the team for last week's shoot and thankfully he was as he's amazing and it was a pleasure to work with him = My new buddy :)

Remember to give Aidan's styling facebook page a like by clicking here!

Make-up was by Ally McGin - Ally works in Benefit and she's from Galway. I love working with new people and I had seen her work on facebook and thought it was awesome so it was a great fit! :) Ally was nice enough to invite me over to her house the morning of the shoot to have my make-up done. She was unable to attend the shoot as she had to rush to work in benefit so she's not in the behind the scenes pictures throughout this blog but here is a picture of the lovely Ally..

You can contact Ally on her facebook for makeup bookings.

Lisa's Hair Emporium was my one stop shop for my hair for this shoot! Lisa also did my hair for the SMEDIA's a couple of months ago.. You can see pictures from that event by clicking here!
and for a booking with Boudoir Girls before Christmas - See those pictures here!
I know that I am in safe hands with Lisa, she is truly SHAMAZING with hair and I would highly recommend her for a cut colour or indeed styling! Plus it makes life so much nicer when you surround yourself with nice people and Lisa and indeed all of the people mentioned in this blog who I worked with on this shoot are genuinely lovely people who you can chat away to!

Assisting Sean on the shoot was Patrick Lennon. It was my first time meeting Patrick but again he was a really nice guy who was easy to work with and I was really grateful for him coming along and helping Sean with the ins and outs of photography science - such as the reflector! :) lol.
As always thank you to the full team on the day!x!

Have a great day!x!

Lots of Love,
Shahira Xo

Kimye Wedding pics - JUST WOW

Please Note: Unfortunately this post was one of the blogs (pre.28th of July 2014) that suffered a 'Blogger' crash.. which saw all images vanishing! JUST WOW! :O

How beautiful do KIMYE (kim and kanye) look on their wedding day! ;) wow!

E! online just posted these exclusive pictures from their special day! enjoy!

Kim stunned (per usual) in a white, Givenchy Haute Couture lace gown and a long silk veil during the ceremony, while Kanye was fitted in a custom Givenchy tuxedo.

The couple wed in Florence Italy last Saturday and are said to be honeymooning in Ireland this week!

According to E news:
After the nuptials, the pair and their loved ones partied at the reception, which included a four-course meal and 7-tiered wedding cake. Kim changed into a short, cream-colored, custom Balmain dress and was also regaled by an epic 20-minute speech from her new husband.
Kris and Bruce Jenner also gave speeches at the reception, and Bruiser reportedly took the more emotional route, shedding some tears while talking about the newlyweds. Aww! Friends like John Legend, who serenaded the lovebirds with "All of Me" for their first dance, also toasted the happy couple.
Congrats again, Kimye!
I hope they have a long and happy marriage and enjoy their honeymoon in Ireland!x!

Lots of Love,
Shahira Xo

Video and Concealer Review! Cover under-eye circles and blemishes! :)

Please Note: Unfortunately this post was one of the blogs (pre.28th of July 2014) that suffered a 'Blogger' crash.. which saw all images vanishing! Hey Blog Readers!!

My newest YouTube video is a review and demonstration on the Anastasia Beverly Hills Concealer! beware messy hair alert - I barely brushed my hair, lol, and didn't realise the flyaways would show on camera! :)

These concealer pots come in a large range of shades (10 to be exact!) so there's definitely something for everyone! You can also mix colours to create your perfect colour or use the concealers to highlight and contour (a shade lighter than your skin colour to highlight and a few shades darker to contour).

The colours that I use to conceal and highlight are 1.0 and 1.5!

Their creamy texture make them super blendable and easy to work with! a little goes a long way and one of these pots is bound to last you a very long time!

The brushes that I like to use with concealer are the no18 concealer brush by Anastasia Beverly Hills (This is the perfect brush for application) and the Delux crease brush by Real Techniques (to blend).

Despite the concealer being a creme texture and also quite thick it hasn't been creasing or caking on me at all!!! (including under my eyes) :) I am super impressed!! :)

They retail for $20 (it's cost is less in euro) and if, like me, you are a concealer addict and you're looking for a perfect all round concealer then this is definitely worth the investment as, as mentioned, you will get use out of it for months to come!

Review - Veet in shower hair removal cream

Hey everyone!

This week I thought I'd do a quick review on a product that I've just recently picked up...

Veet in Shower Hair Removal Cream
If I had my way I would laser off every hair on my body (except my head and eyebrows of course ;) )... but that takes time and effort so until then it's the manual way for me! zZz!

I come from a female dominate family and hair removal cream has been suggested to me on a number of occasions but until now I've stuck with the ol'reliable shaving. I've never liked the idea of a hair removal cream because I've always thought they are quite time consuming, sticky and don't always remove every single hair! I am a 'girly girl' in many ways but the truth is a part from make-up for nights out etc.. and going to the gym.. I really don't put that much effort into my image. What I mean by this is, yes, I have a daily routine just in terms of cleanliness-shower/brushing teeth/washing face/moisturizer - but it's really the basics that I do.. I don't fake tan regularly, do my nails, do my hair every day, or anything like that... Maybe I should! but I just don't - I rarely every wear fake tan, I'm a cluts with nails! and I tend to just sleep with my hair in a plait wake up and brush it and that's it's tlc for the day! So now you know my true laziness you can see why I find it easier to jump into the shower and grab the razer -It's quick, effortless and easy to maintain but Shaving is definitely not the best solution! Shaving only takes the top immediate layer of hair and the re-growth is stubbly and unpleasant ;)

About Veet in Shower hair removal cream:
It's cheap as chips retailing for about €9 for quite a large tube (150ml)... so no complaints there! You can get it in boots or many local pharmacies!
It works the same as any hair removal except it's designed to work while in the shower- which saves time!

How to Apply:
The cream comes with a sponge that has two different sides- you apply the cream with the smooth side of the sponge around 2/3 minutes before you jump in the shower. Yes you need to put it on before you go in the shower and not while in the shower which I agree is a little misleading by it's name!
Once in the shower you can go ahead and wash your hair etc.. and then once you have left the cream on for the desired amount of time (not exceeding 10minutes) you use the rougher side of the sponge to remove the hair and MAGIC the hair wipes away and leaves your skin silky smooth!
Give your sponge a rinse and keep it clean for re-use!

How did it work for me:
This product worked wonders for me and I used it everywhere (even the bikini line).

You have to use your head with it with regards to how long to leave the cream on for... Course hair is going to take longer than fine thin hair -So don't just diss it..give it enough time to work for you! Also be realistic: ensure the layer of cream is thick enough and that all of the hair is covered!

I was blown away with how smooth my legs were! -they felt gorgeous, much nicer than shaving!

I have been considering getting rid of all the hair on my arms (because I am naturally dark) but the last thing I want is them growing back stubbly so I have always put this off! However, I tested the cream on the top of my arms and it worked fantastically! ..I'm going to leave it a little longer to really test the re-growth on my arm and once satisfied I will probably start using it on my whole arm!

Normally when using hair removal cream the strong smell can be a turn off but with this cream the scent is subtle and isn't a  problem as you are using it in the shower so it won't stick!

I love this product and it has replaced my razer completely!

The blue tube that I picked up is for sensitive skin but there is also a normal and dry skin alternative - Pick the one that suites you!

This product gets an 8/10 from me! - I took away two marks because:
1) You have to apply the cream 3 minutes before entering the shower which the title doesn't suggest!
2) It does run a little when the shower water hits it -so you would need to ensure there's been enough development time before this occurs!

Over all it's a very good product and I recommend it to you, my lovely blog readers!

If you try this product please let me know how you find it (I'm interested to know :) ). I'm also curious to know if it would work for men...

HAPPY Smooth Skin

Shahira Xo

Hey Blog Readers!

So the last day has arrived!!

Over all I feel better for having completed the clean 9! I'm definitely going to incorporate the aloe gel & bee pollen into my every day life 💖  :)

In terms of weight loss I lost 3 pounds! It's not a HUGE difference but I didn't really expect to see a massive difference because I am already quite small and my regular calorie intake isn't very high so it wasn't a massive shock to my system! An ideal candidate would have significantly more weight to loose. However, I do feel healthier, happier and more energetic! I also feel like it has kicked me in the butt and got me back on track to watching what I'm eating and healthy living. I found the information booklet very helpful, great for advice and keeping track of your progress! The booklet is a simple idea but worth it's weight in gold :)

Today I went a bit over the 600cal- I ate 2 wetabix (134cal), rice crispies (115cal) some turkey breast with veg (158) and beans on slimbo toast! (212) Total = 619cal)
And not the healthiest diet today but heyy only 19over, lol

I am delighted I decided to give the clean 9 a go and I am also delighted I saw it through! although it did mean when a friend asked me to go clubbing I turned her down because of the extra calories in alcohol and because the whole idea is to get healthy and detox the body - I haven't gone out in ages and I would have liked to have caught up with this old friend but to be honest I'm not a big fan of the clubbing scene lately and I'd much rather an early night (I've turned into an old granny!)

My advice for anyone doing the Clean 9
My advice would be to stick with it! If you're feeling hungry drink some water - often we mistake hunger with thirst. Also take it easy for the first few two days- try to do it on a day when your not in work and when you can take it easy enough - saver your energy! Use the calorie counter at the back of the programme!

Conclusion!
Personally I thought the clean 9 was a breeze! It got me on the right track and I am feeling HEALTHY and HAPPY! I will definitely continue to use, in particular, the bee pollen and aloe gel.

Benefits of Bee Pollen (used by Victoria Beckham ;) )

1. Energy Enhancer - The range of nutrients found within bee pollen makes it a great natural energizer. The carbohydrates, protein and B vitamins can help keep you going all day by enhancing stamina and fighting off fatigue.

2. Skin Soother - Bee pollen is often used in topical products that aim to treat inflammatory conditions and common skin irritations like psoriasis or eczema. The amino acids and vitamins protect the skin and aid the regeneration of cells.

3. Respiratory System - Bee pollen contains a high quantity of antioxidants that may have an anti-inflammatory effect on the tissues of the lungs, preventing the onset of asthma.

4. Treating Allergies – Pollen reduces the presence of histamine, ameliorating many allergies. Dr. Leo Conway, M.D of Denver Colorado, reported that 94 percent of his patients were completely free from allergy symptoms once treated with oral feeding of pollen. Everything from asthma to allergies to sinus problems were cleared, confirming that bee pollen is wonderfully effective against a wide range of respiratory diseases.

5. Digestive System - In addition to healthful vitamins, minerals and protein, bee pollen contains enzymes that can aid in digestion. Enzymes assist your body in getting all the nutrients you need from the food that you eat.

6. Immune System Booster - Pollen is good for the intestinal flora and thereby supports the immune system. According to holistic health expert Dr. Joseph Mercola, bee pollen has antibiotic-type properties that can help protect the body from contracting viruses. It's also rich in antioxidants that protect the cells from the damaging oxidation of free radicals.

7. Treats Addictions – Used holistically for healing addictions and inhibiting cravings by suppressing impulses. Because bee pollen crashes cravings, it is a very useful research is needed into this benefit, particularly when it comes to weight management.

8. Supports the Cardiovascular System - Bee Pollen contains large amounts of Rutin; an antioxidant bioflavonoid that helps strengthen capillaries, blood vessels, assists with circulatory problems and corrects cholesterol levels. Its potent anti-clotting powers could help prevent heart attack and stroke.

9. Prostate Aid - Men who suffer from benign prostate hyperplasia can find relief by using bee pollen. Bee pollen can help reduce inflammation to stop frequent urges to urinate.

10. Infertility Problems - Bee pollen stimulates and restores ovarian function, therefore may be used to assist in accelerating pregnancy. As well as being a hormonal booster it is also a great aphrodisiac!

Benefits of Aloe Gel
* Cleanses and supports your digestive system
* Infuses you with energy
* Hydrates your skin
* Soothes and promotes skin renewal
* Supports your immune system
* And so much more

Hey Blog Readers!

Today I was back in Dublin for my 1 week post op check-up with my laser eye surgery. To read a blog on my surgery last week just click here!

I suspected that today would be a difficult day because I was travelling and I thought I would cheat but I didn't!! :) YAYY!

I didn't get my exercise in today but I was running around Dublin in wedge runners so my legs were burning after :)

For food I got a Prawn and Avocado Salad in the M&S restaurant on Grafton street.

If I ate 5 prawns here I'd be surprised... It wasn't that the food was bad but more like I decided I actually don't like prawns! lol!

Back in Galway for Dinner I had Butternut squash roasted & sweet potato fries with salad.

Later I had a wetabix with soya milk.

Can't believe it's the final day tomorrow!

Hey Blog Readers!

Everything is ticking a long nicely! Nothing much to report - I'm loving the bee pollen. My energy is increasing! :) and I'm also drinking a lot more water - I badly needed this as I feel I've been dehydrated lately! But of course the down side to that is that it means I keep needing to pee  :P lol

Today for breakfast I had Porridge with soya milk and sliced banana.

For lunch I had Smoked Salmon with lemon

Later I had a bowl of ready brek with soya milk

I also took note of my measurements today and For exercise I went to a kettle bell class.

I noted that this detox is not difficult to stick with but you do feel motivated and energized when completing it! I am not worried at all about the next few days!

Hey Blog Readers!

So an update for day six... Today I was meant to weigh myself in the morning but I forgot so I will weigh myself tomorrow morning (day 7) and keep you updated on my progress!

As you have probably realised by now if you are following my detox blog I like to split my 600 cal allowance into a Breakfast and Dinner.. so...

For Breakfast
I had two poached eggs and a slimbo (toasted with some almond butter)

For Dinner I once again had a turkey burger with tomatoes, lettuce, mustard and pickle and red pepper on the side.

Yes I love Turkey burgers and yes I LOVE Slimbos :p lol!

I also had  a snack of some Smoked Salmon! :)

For exercise I hit the gym - I did about 30 minutes running and walking uphill and then I did 10 minute abs, and 10 minutes weighted leg work.

How am I feeling?
I'm feeling great! I have lots of energy and I'm motivated and confident - HAPPY days! :)

Hey Blog Readers!

So an update on today - It's Sunday so I didn't feel like much of a workout, lol. Instead I went for about a 45minute (slow) walk along the river Corrib and later I did a couple of squats but the intensity today definitely wasn't very high! (my excuse-it was a Sunday :) )

For Breakfast I had the same as yesterday - Beans on slimbo toast with almond butter.

And for Dinner I went to 37West which is a healthy food cafe in Galway (YUM by the way) I got the 'Muscle' salad which is a chicken and avocado salad. It came with gluten free bread made with sundried tomatoes (mmm)

Later I had some mango Pieces as a snack

Remember this isn't the amount of food I eat on a regular day (a healthy woman's daily recommended intake is 1,500-2,000kcal). This is for detox purposes and includes the dietary supplements that comes with the clan 9!x!

Until tomorrow...

Hey Blog Readers!

Sooo today I saw actual FOOD again :) yay! HOW I MISSED YOU!x! lol

I had planned what I was going to eat since yesterday! I decided to split my 600 calorie meal in two, so that I would have enough energy in the morning to hit the gym, If I had attempted to hit the gym after two days of no solid food there is a high possibility I would of collapsed, lol! ;)

For Breakfast I had two poached eggs and slimbo toast with almond butter! (kcal 366)

For dinner I had 1 Turkey Burger on slimbo bread with lettuce, tomato, pickle and mustard (in the nutri-lean programme, which comes with the clean 9, you can have as many cucumber/pickles/tomatoes/lettuce as you like so i also snacked on tomatoes, lol). +300KCal I also had some crab meat (from crab claws).
I was a bit over the 600cals today but I missed one shake (200 odd calories) in the morning. I also did a lot longer than the recommend 20 minutes exercise (which means I burned extra energy/kcals)... so a few crab claws wouldn't hurt :)

This is the program for Phase 2: Days 3-9

Morning: * 2 Garcinia Plus capsules (20 mins before Aloe)
* 120ml (4oz) Aloe Vera Gel + min 240ml (8oz) Water.

Weigh-in/Measurements!
I also weighed/measured myself today the results were as follows...
Arm: 1/2 inch lost
Waist: 1inch lost
Hips: 1/2 inch lost
Thigh: 1/2 inch on one leg but not the other...
Chest: no change
Weight: 1pound lost

Today was easy,as I'm sure the rest of this cleanse will be!, I'm even getting used to the horrible taste of the aloe vera gel! lol. However I did experience some stomach cramps after dinner but i believe this is simply down to two days without solid food and suddenly eating again. I'm sure my stomach will be adjusted by tomorrow! :)

So Until tomorrow!!

Day 4 here!
Lots of Love,
